Welcome to the Sandhill Sanctuary!
Where Land, Legacy, and Hospitality Come Together.
Every place has a story.
Sandhill Sanctuary’s story began in the 1980s, when it was built by the third-generation of the Wilson family, Melvin and Jane. Today, while much has changed over the years, one thing has remained the same—its sense of peace.
We invite you to experience that same feeling as you relax, reconnect with nature, and enjoy the beauty of the Nebraska Sandhills.
Whether you’re watching wildlife, exploring the ranch, or simply taking time to slow down, we hope your time here brings you the same sense of peace that has made this place so special for generations

In the background of this original you could see the snow laying on the road going up the hill to where the Sandhill Sanctuary sits today.

A picture taken in 2026 of the hills in the background and the Sandhill Sanctuary visible from all the way down here.

Here is a closer look of the hill leading up to the Sanctuary.

Same angle of the hill leading to the Sanctuary taken in 2026. How things change over time.

This is the start of the Sandhill Sanctuary. In the last couple of pictures, you can see how the land changes with time.

Here is a secondary picture of the beginning but pay close attention to the tree on the opposite corner. Check out the next picture to see the change.

To think this is that same tree in 2026! I think if we were able to see it from that same angle how much it has grown from then to now.

This is the third and last original we could find of the Sandhill Sanctuary's beginning.

This picture is taken from the same spot as the final foundation picture but turned towards the view instead. Comparing all 3 the foundation originals you can see the grass out in the distance. However, when looking at the 2026 pictures you can see the lake and how it's taken over what was once there.
