Jaclyn and Blaine Wilson

OUR STORY

The Wilson Flying Diamond Ranch was founded in 1888 on the western edge of the Nebraska Sandhills. Since the beginning, the Wilson family has constantly worked towards establishing an elite herd of Red Angus and Red Angus-Simmental cattle. My grandfather Bus (third generation) was given the Flying Diamond brand as a wedding present. He had called the operation Wilson Flying Diamond Ranch. Somewhere along the way the name had got shortened to Wilson Ranch, but with time comes change, and once again we are operating under the WFDR name. Jaclyn, the 5th generation of Wilson ranchers, came back to the ranch in 2002 after attending the University of Nebraska. Together, Jaclyn and her dad Blaine run the Wilson Flying Diamond Ranch.  â€‹Jaclyn founded Flying Diamond Beef in 2019 as a way to sell the outstanding beef produced by Flying Diamond cattle directly to consumers.

Like most ranching operations, our focus is on our livestock. Our goal is to treat every one of our animals in a way that they can fulfill their purpose, and that is to provide great tasting beef. We pursue these goals by implementing cutting edge technology, utilizing management programs that help constantly improve land and livestock, and thinking outside the box like our forefathers did. We strive to better ourselves and the ranch every day.  â€‹We know that care of the livestock only goes so far if you don’t care for the land. The ranch was blessed to be named the first operation in the state of Nebraska to receive the coveted Leopold Conservation Award. We have also been hosts to a number of conservation projects including photographing insects for National Geographic’s Photo Ark and even collecting sonar data on bat populations. In February, we were honored to receive the 2023 Beef Quality Assurance Cow Calf Award. This award confirms our dedication to humane and conscious production practices.

Both Jaclyn and Blaine have served on boards all the way up to the national level in cattle industry groups, and community organizations. We want to share our little bit of heaven with all of you. Thanks for your interest in the ranch, and our great testing beef!

In 2023, Salvetti and Grace D'Ascoli joined the Wilson Flying Diamond Ranch family. Both are Colorado State University alumni. Salvetti is our ranch manager in training, currently working alongside Blaine and Jaclyn on all day-to-day and long-term operations. Grace is assisting with Flying Diamond Beef and pitching in as a ranch hand when needed.
